Windows 11 22H2 is the first major update to Microsoft’s latest operating system and unfortunately looks to have introduced some annoying problems, including poor game performance, for some users.
How Windows Latest reports (opens in a new tab)people started visiting Reddit (and other websites) to complain about these Windows 11 issues.
One of the most frustrating problems is touching people with Nvidia graphics cards, and some gamers complain that their frames per second (fps) have dropped, making games run poorly and audio being affected as well. Other players have noticed that games are stuttering due to declines in fps.
Windows Latest also reports that Nvidia is investigating these issues itself and asking affected gamers for data to help it identify the issue. Hopefully both Nvidia and Microsoft are investigating, so a fix will be coming soon.
Microsoft has also been accused of ignoring reports from Windows Insiders who tested Windows 11 22H2 in the months leading up to its release, as some emphasized the game’s poor performance during this test period. The fact that Microsoft has released this update without fixing these issues first is certainly not going to look good.
There have also been reports of the dreaded blue screen of death errors when installing updates.
Microsoft will have to deal with these problems and make sure they are not too widespread – and that they are fixed quickly. If not, Windows 11’s reputation could rebound once more.
How to fix poor game performance on Windows 11 22H2
If you’ve had sluggish game performance since installing Windows 11 22H2, it seems like the easiest way to fix it is to uninstall the update. The people who did this found the game’s performance back to normal.
To do this, open the Start menu and click the Gear Settings icon. Go to “System” then click “Recovery” and select “Back”. You should see a “Go back to early version” option – click this and Windows 11 will roll back to the previous version.
You can also wait for Microsoft and Nvidia to release fixes for the problems. This will likely be in the form of an Nvidia driver update or a Microsoft hotfix update.
