It’s time for Splatoon 3 players to get together to splash the Salmonids as Nintendo has announced the dates for its upcoming Big Run co-op event.
The Big Run will take place from December 10 to 12 and sees Splatoon 3the city of Splatsville infested with Salmonids, hybrid fish previously seen in the game’s existing cooperative Salmon Run mode.
While few details have been given about the actual contents of the special mode, much can be deduced from the promotional images seen on Nintendo’s Twitter page.
We’re in this together
We’re gonna need a bigger Slosher. The Salmonids are coming to Splatsville when Big Run, the all-new #Splatoon3 co-op event, runs from 12/9 at 4:00 p.m. PST to 12/11 at 4:00 p.m. PST! Gather your parts-timers crew and make some changes to Salmon Run today! pic.twitter.com/MbfrvpixrRNovember 29, 2022
While Salmon Run features styling similar to a capture the flag scenario where up to four players battle hordes of salmonids in a battle for golden eggs, Big Run’s goal seems to be a bit different.
Promotional images in Nintendo’s official announcement show the Squid King holding a golden salmonid. This may allude to another collectible or in-game trophy, perhaps just one per team of four, to raise the stakes by that much.
We know that Wahoo World is the first area of Splatsville you need to defend against the salmonid invasion, and players will be able to drop in with their cohort starting December 10 for a few short days.
Big Run will be the first of Splatoon 3’s 2022 Chill Season offerings, the rest of which were announced in information about the upcoming patch (opens in a new tab). Judging by these, some of the highlights include fifty new items to find in the shop, three new weapons, and a new Salmon Run level titled Marooner’s Bay.
